Local airport to receive grant funding

Through the CARES Act, Alpena County Airport received almost 18 million dollars in funding to be used during the pandemic.Airports are considered essential and here in Alpena the airport offers more than just commercial service to passengers. Personnel assist in search and rescue projects and cargo shipments such as medical supplies are still needed for transport.An extensive disinfecting program for the Alpena facility and for its airplanes has also been needed during the COVID–19 pandemic.
