Jeremy Menez (Club America) – 5-1 vs. Lobos BUAP#NoTeLoPierdasGLAAAAZO de Jéremy Mé[email protected] 5-1 @LobosBuapMX #Jornada5 #Clausura2018 #LIGABancomerMX#SienteTuLiga#CreandoOportunidades #PorLaEducación #AbrazadosPorElFutbol pic.twitter.com/ukWqYSFq3r— LIGA Bancomer MX (@LIGABancomerMX) February 4, 2018The victory already was wrapped up by the time America’s new French forward Jerermy Menez scored this goal. After Henry Martin’s two first-half goals, Las Aguilas’ win over Lobos BUAP was already wrapped up by the time Menez set foot on the Estadio Azteca grass. Yet, despite the hat trick from the Mexico international, this is the goal that stands out as the finest from that contest.Menez seals the triumph with his right foot, letting a good cross from Renato Ibarra bounce before he uses his first touch to fire into a place where Jorge Villalpando couldn’t make a stop. It was top quality from the new addition. His next test will be doing it against a team that isn’t already losing 4-1 and is able to defend a bit better than Lobos.2. Erick Gutierrez (Pachuca) – 1-0 vs. Morelia#NoTeLoPierdasGLAAAAAAAAAZO de Erick Gutiérrez @Tuzos 1-0 @FuerzaMonarca #Jornada5 #Clausura2018 #LIGABancomerMX#SienteTuLiga#CreandoOportunidades #PorLaEducación #AbrazadosPorElFutbol pic.twitter.com/eVjUk9PmWF— LIGA Bancomer MX (@LIGABancomerMX) February 4, 2018It’s been too long since we’ve seen a goal from Erick Gutierrez. With injuries afflicting him for much of 2017, the Pachuca midfielder hadn’t found the back of the net in league play since an Aug. 12 goal against Tigres in the Apertura.Maybe that’s why Morelia decided it could sag so far off of him, but that turned out to be a huge mistake. “El Guti” seems stunned by how much space he has in front of him when he received the pass from around 30 yards out and moves forward before sending a rocket on net with his left foot. His teammate, Keisuke Honda, had a great free kick but both goals were in a losing effort as Morelia came back to top Tuzos, 3-2.1. Aviles Hurtado (Monterrey) – 1-0 vs. Leon#NoTeLoPierdasGLAAAAAAZO de Avilés [email protected] 1-0 @clubleonfc #Jornada5 #Clausura2018 #LIGABancomerMX#SienteTuLiga#CreandoOportunidades #PorLaEducación #AbrazadosPorElFutbol pic.twitter.com/c2ALIpU3BL— LIGA Bancomer MX (@LIGABancomerMX) February 4, 2018Maybe Leon should’ve seen this goal as a harbinger of the attacking onslaught Monterrey was about to unleash. This goal was just the first of five Rayados put past Leon goalkeeper William Yarbrough, but it stands out as the best. It’s very much a Monterrey-style goal. Hurtado receives the long pass from Celso Ortiz, controlling with a good first touch. Now it’s up to him to make something happen. And, oh, he does. After Hurtado fakes a left-footed pass, he takes Andres Mosqueda to the end line with his right foot. That draws Yarbrough’s attention and the goalkeeper comes off his line. After keeping the ball in, Hurtado decides to have a go of it from a tight angle and manages to coax it across the line. A teammate probably gets a foot on it even if it’s not crossing the line, but Hurtado says, ‘No worries. I got this.’ and does it himself. Then he’s off to celebrate, perhaps letting the thought of scoring Goal’s Liga MX Goal of the Week dance through his mind as well.
